We suggest that you clear any outstanding bills the night before to avoid delays for your gorilla tracking in the morning.

Animals

It does occasionally happen that local wildlife takes residence in your chalet. You may find a gecko, frog or evidence of the above. Those creatures are harmless but we gladly remove them for you.

Check In & Out

“Whatever comes – let it come, Whatever stays – let it stay, Whatever goes – let it go” – we are very flexible with our check in and check out times, however if we are fully booked and in need of your room we might ask you to check out by latest 12h00 and we will give you a day room to store your luggage and have a shower before you leave

Electricity

The lodge is equipped with a generator.
Running times: evenings: ± 18:30 – 22:30 mornings: ± 05:00 – 06:30

Extras

Blankets for those chilly nights are provided in your room. Torches are next to your bed. Please bring them for dinner in case you are not so sure about the steps to your chalet.

Fire Precaution

Please familiarize yourself with the location and handling of the fire extinguisher. It is located underneath the shelving.

First Aid & Hospital

Mutolere Hospital is 20 min away and run by a Dutch team of doctors. We also have a basic first aid box for minor injuries & illnesses.

Gratuities

Our staff is here to ensure that your experience is exceptional. Should you feel that you would like to leave a tip, an amount of your choice can be left in the tip box at the bar. The collections are equally shared between all staff members, also the ones “in the background”, as they are just as deserving as the staff you are dealing with directly. We would like to highlight that tips are completely at your discretion.

Health

NO Malaria, NO Ebola, NO Marburg Virus
Due to the high altitude our lodge is located in a Malaria free area.

Internet

There is free WiFi in the main building.

Laundry

A basket and list are provided in your room. Please fill in the list, sign it and leave the basket on your bed or tell us so we can send somebody to fetch it. Any laundry is undertaken at your own risk. Whilst every care is taken we do not accept responsibility for loss or damage. The cost is charged to your account.

Lights

The pathway lights remain switched on during generator running times. We usually privide additional gas lanterns along the path (not if it is raining or very windy). There are also torches in your room. Please switch your lights off when out of the chalet at night as it might attracts insects.

Lost & Found

All lost and found articles are kept for a period of three months in our housekeeping department. Thereafter unclaimed items are disposed of.

Luggage

We kindly ask you to leave your luggage in front of your door at check out. We are more than happy to assist you with carrying it up to the parking

Parking

We have a designated area to park the vehicles. The parking is secured and guarded at all times.

Reception

Our reception is everywhere ;-). You will always find a staff member on the property that will happily assist you or get somebody to assist with your queries at all times. Just look out for the bright red Chameleon Hill uniforms.

Restaurant

Meal times are as follows:
Breakfast: from 05.30 (depending on your gorilla family, please talk to your driver guide, he will liaise with us)
Lunch: if taken in the restaurant we are happy anytime to prepare lunch for you, should you be out on an excursion, we will provide a delicious packed lunch.
Dinner: @ 19:00 (sharp)

Security

Our property is guarded by official members of the “Ugandan Tourism Police” 24/7.

Shoe Cleaning

Please put your shoes in front of your door after your tracking, for us to make them look brand new.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted inside the chalet or inside the main lodge. Please be considerate and smoke outside at all times.

Transfers

It is possible to hire our lodge pick up (with driver) for transfers. Please enquire about rates.

Wake Up Call

If you wish for a “wake up call“ (knocking on your door) please notify management the night before.

Water

We provide one 500 ml bottle of water per person per day. However, please note that our tap water comes directly from a nearby fountain and has been tested for its quality in a laboratory in Cape Town. The result was “mineral water quality”.
